What Cowboys QB Dak Prescott said when asked if he has a girlfriend

To many across Dallas, Dak Prescott and his teammates have changed the image of the Cowboys. Prescott doesn’t embody the image of the Cowboys bad boy. Instead, his story of coming up through hardship, losing his mom to colon cancer in college and seizing opportunity after opportunity when injured QBs before him went down has won over hearts across the Metroplex.

One might argue that 23-year-old Dak Prescott is Dallas’ most eligible bachelor.

But is he single?

Prescott was asked about his dating status this week on an episode of Sports Media’s Inside the Huddle. The QB joined former Cowboys fullback Tyler Clutts and his wife Tiffany on the segment filmed at House of Blues.

“What is the women [status]?” Tiffany Clutts asked. “Do we have a girlfriend? Are we single? Are we looking for a girl?”

Prescott gave a nervous chuckle and a sheepish smile.

“Yeah you women need a lot of time. And my time is focused on football right now – my first love.”

Prescott said he’s enjoying pursuing that love with his Cowboys teammates. He said receiver Dez Bryant welcomed him early on, several veterans have texted him good luck through the process, and he even went to the TCU-SMU football game in September with receivers Cole Beasley (an SMU alum) and Lucky Whitehead.

Upon entering a stadium suite, Dak was cheered.

“As soon as Dak came in, everyone was ‘Dak, Dak, Dak,'” said fellow episode guest Shane, who met Dak at the game months before joining him on Inside the Huddle. “So we went and saw Dak. Didn’t recognize Cole or Lucky.”

Clutts said Beasley flew under the radar long before Prescott joined the Cowboys. When Clutts played fullback for Dallas from 2013-15, he and his teammates called the 5-8 receiver the “Make-a-Wish kid.”

“Like the kid that they let come on, he’s too small to play,” Clutts explained. “Til you see that kid run around you’re like what? And then he runs around and nobody in the NFL can cover him.”

Prescott picked up on that early this year, connecting with Beasley on eight of 12 targets in the Cowboys’ season opener vs. the Giants. Beasley caught a career-high 75 balls for 883 yards and five scores thanks to the rookie. With Prescott behind center, opponents and their fans have even cited Beasley as the guy to watch.

“Exactly,” Prescott said said. “Put some respect in Cole’s name.”
